This replaces the old National dialup number: 0198 333 939,
which has now been disconnected.

Dialup Connection Setup
The instructions below will show you how to get connected to the national dialup
network.
For convenience, we recommend printing this section out for future reference:
user name format: userid@netro.com.au (instead of userid)
Windows XP (other Windows based operating systems should be similar)
Start, Control Panel, Network and Internet Connection, Network Connections
(or use Start, Run: ncpa.cpl)
Rename existing connection to "Netro old":
Right click, Rename
Create a new "Netro Dialup" profile:
1. Create a new connection (Next)
2. Select: Connect to the Internet (Next)
3. Select: Set up my connection manually (Next)
4. Select: Connect using a dial-up modem (Next)
5. ISP Name: Netro Dialup (Next)
6. Phone Number*: 0198 331 321 (Next)
7. Create this Connection for: Anyone or my use (Next)
8. Internet Account Information:
- User Name: userid@netro.com.au (Important: Remember to
add @netro.com.au to your userid)
- Password: ********
- Confirm Password: ********
- Tick: Use this account name and password when anyone connections to the
Internet from this computer.
- Tick: Make this the default Internet Connection, optional but recommended
(Next)
9. Tick: Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop (Finish)
Changes and advanced settings can be made by right clicking the "Netro Dialup"
icon
*Call waiting can be disabled for the duration of the Dialup connection,
by prefixing the dialup number with *44
Internet Explorer Settings
The default dialup connection can be specified with:
a) Internet Explorer: Tools, Options, or
b) Control panel, Network and Internet Connections, Internet Options:
Then select Connections, "Netro Dialup" connection, click on Set Default.
Web Proxy Settings
Netro uses transparent web proxying to improve performance on thousands
of frequently accessed web sites such as Google.
Important: Remember to disable any manually configured
proxy settings

Netro Dialup & LAN (Local Area Network) Settings
Untick: use a proxy server.
DNS Settings
These are automatically assigned by the NAS (Network Access Server)
Please make sure these aren't overrided with manual settings.
Start, Control Panel, Network and Internet Connection, Network Connections
(or use Start, Run: ncpa.cpl)
Right click on "Netro Dialup"
Select: Networking
Select: TCP/IP, Properties
Select: Obtain DNS server address automatically

Mail Settings
mail.netro.com.au is no longer used.

SMTP: smtp.syd.netro.com.au
POP: pop.syd.netro.com.au
